Chronic Progressive Dislocation of the Talo-navicular Joint.

چکیده

Jensen (1963) reported a case of so-called bilateral dislocation of the talus in a woman of sixty-four. The etiology of the lesion was not determined. The patient had had no trouble with her feet until she was forty-nine, when she began to get pain and valgus deformity. The pain ceased after six months but the deformities became progressively more severe. Jensen stated that he had not found references to similar cases in the literature. Two patients with this deformity have been attending the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital, Birmingham. Before Jensen published his case I had been unable to find references to the lesion in the literature. The present cases are considered to be specially worth recording because there are radiographs showing progression of the condition in each case over a period of eighteen years.

A MR imaging procedure to investigate tarsal bone mechanics

In the current work, a magnetic resonance (MR) imaging procedure to evaluate quasi-static motion of the calcaneus, cuboid, navicular, and talus is presented. It is focused on the applicability of a newly developed foot loading and positioning device. For that purpose, tarsal bone positions of three healthy subjects in a pronated and a supinated foot excursion under bodyweight were repeatedly me...

Symphalangism and tarsal coalitions: a hereditary syndrome. A report on two families.

Symphalangism was the term used by Harvey Cushing (1916) in his description of a family in which eighty-four persons among 313 examined exhibited a dominantly inherited ankylosis of the interphalangeal joints of the hand. There have been many other reports of families in which symphalangism occurs with no other associated skeletal abnormality (see bibliography). In fact, if Drinkwater’s chronic...
